A common topic of conversation these days is how remote or isolated people feel about how their fellow citizens view the world. I have always taught in my classes that congress is the least popular branch because of the tremendous diversity of ideas and world views around the country — and that is simply reflected in the legislative body. But the DEGREE of difference is now apparently so striking: This article by a conservative intellectual illustrates the gap.
I simply can’t get my arms around the idea that “America is engaged in a moral civil war for it soul” and that this war is so important that accepting Donald Trump, whatever his faults, was better than supporting “the liberal Hilary Clinton”.
